The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awarded a Faith In Action grant to Berean Community and Family Life Center as part of the foundation’s commitment to expand its national interfaith volunteer giving program which helps those with long-term illnesses and disabilities.
FIA volunteers come from churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship as well as the community at large. Our volunteers help those in need, especially the frail and elderly, with everyday activities such as picking up groceries, accompanying them to the doctor, or keeping in touch by telephone.
How can you share your time and talents?
Provide compassionate care through friendly visits to neighbors who are frail and elderly
Provide telephone reassurance by providing daily phone calls, and give families peace of mind
Assist the elderly in learning how to email or communicate using computers;
or assist in learning new crafts such as jewelry making and crocheting.
